Welcome to my new blog/website- some of you may be followers of old from my New Zealand blog There and Back Again, while some might be first timers. Either way, I’m back to bring you some fine travel/occupational journalism from Southeast Asia. This blog will probably be more accurately described a poorly constructed and rarely proofread rant about my job and adventures in Thailand, amongst many other countries.

I’m going to do my darnedest to keep this blog updated on pretty regular basis, which means hopefully 2-3 times a week. This is actually rather ambitious for someone who has mastered the art of procrastination. I’ve been thinking about writing this post alone for about 5 days now, and its currently 1:12am.

I’ll give a super-quick rundown of what I’ll be doing over there in case some of you may not know. I’m going to be teaching English (language) to Thai college students at Assumption University in Bangkok. I don’t know a speck of Thai and most of the students barely know English. How this is going to work, I have no idea. In fact, I have no idea why anyone in their right mind would allow me to be in charge of a classroom. Have I ever taught a class before? Nope. So who thought this was a good idea? I have no idea, but where would the fun in life come from if we all did things that were “good ideas.”

So anyway, its a year long stay for me in Thailand. I’ll really only work for about 9 months, get paid for 12, so if all works out and I don’t catch any crazy diseases, I’ll get to travel for 3-4 months around Asia. Not a bad gig if you ask me. My last blog consisted a lot about going on trips and not going to class. Well now that I have a real job that I’m getting paid for (certainly not a lot in US standards, but more than enough here) you’ll probably be reading a lot about my travels AND about my teaching.

This was suppose to be a short post, and I’m starting to mumble…..or is it blumble. See what I mean, I say stupid and dorky things when its late and I try to write. Anyway, follow along on my adventures, I highly encourage you to comment, email me, skype, facebook, or whatever. I have some friends coming along with me, but its always nice to hear from people back home. Also, if anyone wants to come visit Thailand, you have a free place to stay. Some people think I’m kidding when I say that, but I’m completely serious- sometimes you just gotta get up and go! Plus I’ll let you sleep in my bed cause I don’t mind the floor. Double plus, I hear our bathrooms have the toilet right in the shower. I’ll refrain from the many jokes that are currently running through my mind (besides the title of this post)-  but you have to admit a toilet in the shower is pretty spectacular.
